Native Forest

The wood used by Juegos de Ingenio Einstein comes from adult forests, that is, trees which are losing quality through old age and therefore have a reduced value for traditional commercial use. They are badly formed trees which are considered to have a low level of productivity.

As a result, it is considered good conservation to make way for the natural regeneration of the forest with younger trees. This is considered an environmentally friendly use of native forest, helping to keep it healthy.

Einstein uses small pieces of wood harvested from these adult forests. Consumption is 250 sawn inches per month, in other words, one hectare will supply the factory for more than a year.

Juegos de Ingenio Einstein is working for the preservation of native forest together with Forestal Taquihue, and their Arquilhue wood produce. They practice health forest management, using plans approved by CONAF, the Chilean National Forestry Corporation.

Forestal Taquihue

A company which owns 13,000 hectares located some 800 km south of Santiago, Chile. They practice the philosophy of sustainable resource management of native forest, maintaining a solid balance between the environment and social impact.

This company participates actively in the Forest Certification initiative. It is a member of the economic directorate of the organization in Chile which is seeking the application of international forest certification standards, according to FSC rules.

Their goal is to ensure complete utilization of resources, and to ensure obtaining high quality, noble wood in a way which will contribute and maintain the future biodiversity of the forests.
